Experimental Study on Structural Behaviour of Steel Wire Mesh under Impact Loading

چکیده
In view of application to debris flow/rockfall barrier system, several types steel wire mesh were selected verify their basic behaviour under impact load free fall weight at the controlled testing environment an in-house facility capable dropping a heavy on approximately 1-meter square panel made such material. Out 3 tested, high-performance chain link endured highest energy, while newly developed showed high potential effectively absorbing energy by its plastic deformation along total length components. Both above two are expected be applied in flexible type flow catchment system combination with larger opening as ring net. The consisting spirally deformed wires behaved energy-absorbing elements transmitting supporting ropes own length.

Study on transferred impulse and response of steel plate walls under various impulsive loading considering mesh size effects
The behavior of steel plate walls (SPWs) under various impulsive loadings and the effects of different mesh sizes are investigated in this paper. With the aim of accurately inspecting SPWs, a series of analyses with 250 models with different plate geometric assumptions and different blast impulsive loadings are performed to study the SPWs’ out-of-plane behavior. The mild steel material specific...
متن کاملMechanical behaviour of TWIP steel under shear loading
Twinning induced plasticity steels (TWIP) are very good candidate for automotive industry applications because they potentially offer large energy absorption before failure due to their exceptional strain hardening capability and high strength. However, their behaviour is drastically influenced by the loading conditions. In this work, the mechanical behaviour of a TWIP steel sheet sample was in...
متن کاملExperimental investigations on the softening and ratcheting behaviors of steel cylindrical shell under cyclic axial loading
In this research, softening and ratcheting behaviors of Ck20 alloy steel cylindrical shells were studied under displacement-control and force-control cyclic axial loading and the behavior of hysteresis curves of specimens was also investigated. Experimental tests were performed by a servo-hydraulic INSTRON 8802 machine. The mechanical properties of specimens were determined according to ASTM E8...
متن کاملNumerical and Experimental Study on Ratcheting Behavior of Steel Cylindrical Shells with/without Cutout Under Cyclic Combined and Axial Loading
Ratcheting behavior of steel 304L cylindrical shell under cyclic combined and axial loading are investigated in this paper, numerically. Cylindrical shells were fixed oblique at angle of 20° and normal with respect to the longitudinal direction of the shell and subjected to force-controlled cycling with non-zero mean force, which causes the accumulation of plastic deformation or ratcheting beha...
متن کاملExperimental study of the behaviour of building structural elements under soft impact
Dynamic three-point bend tests are performed on small beams specimen made of a quasi-brittle material. The most classical hypotheses needed to analyse the tests with SHPB, which are based on a state of quasi-static balance of the body, cannot be used. In order to get the behaviour it is necessary to perform a transient analysis of the specimen response. In most cases, the useful duration of the...
